Launched in the fall of 2023, the Art Cultural Education (ACE) Pro-gram at Blue Triangle Community Center is a vibrant initiative made possible by a grant from the MidAmerica Arts Alliance (M-AAA). Th is program, directed by Dr. Sarah Trotty and Dr. Alvia Wardlaw, fosters connections between students and emerging artists. One of the pro-gram’s highlights was the “Showcase of Unknown Artists,” an event that celebrated cultural ap-preciation and brought lesser-known talents into the spotlight.
Blue Triangle, located in the heart of Houston’s inner city and near the Houston Art District, is proud to host the ACE Program. Th e community center also features Dr. John T. Biggers’ second mural, a testament to the center’s commitment to art and culture. Situated at 3005 McGowen Street, Houston, Texas 77004, the Blue Triangle Community Center continues to be a beacon for both established and upcoming artists, providing a space for appreciation and encouragement. In 2024, Event 2, funded by a grant from Humanities Texas, will celebrate “Dr. John T. Biggers’ 100th Birthday.”
This event will focus on education and honor Dr. Biggers’ contributions as an internationally renowned artist, celebrating his life, art, and legacy. Looking ahead, Event 3 will showcase the remaining ten murals by Dr. Biggers, further cementing the Blue Triangle Community Center’s role as a cultural hub. Charlotte Kelly Bryant, Executive Director of the Blue Triangle Multi-Cultural Association, Inc., is dedicated to continuing this legacy, ensuring the Blue Triangle Community Center remains a vital part of Houston’s cultural landscape.
